Sail down the Nile with Art in Context! This lecture series is designed for anyone with an interest in Ancient Egypt.   The course will begin with a consideration of Ancient Egyptian mythology and the centrality of the Nile River in spiritual and religious practice.   Drawing upon a lifetime of interest in Egyptian art and culture and multiple trips up and down the Nile, Professor Sandra Haynes will take us back to the birth of Egyptian civilization with a series of fascinating lectures focusing on prehistoric and early historical Egyptian funerary work and monuments built throughout  the Old Kingdom.

Having recently returned from Egypt, Professor Haynes will frame her lectures about this eternally fascinating country with her own travel experiences, academic study, and stories derived from a dedicated fascination and a thirty-year teaching career.
